Sunday is Maroochy’s activity day - with Course Racing held during the afternoon - usually in three Divisions each comprising boats of similar performance. Following a briefing at 1.00pm, Racing commences thirty minutes later and continues for several hours, concluding around 4.00pm.
On Thursday mornings, a group of sailors dubbed the Maroochy Mariners, meet at around 9.00am to rig their boats and sail to various destinations in the Maroochy River, practising their sailing skills, boat handling and testing their performance. Those more experienced assist others less so, and they generally conclude their activities by 1.00pm. Although the intention is to sail most Thursdays, weather and personal commitments do affect the numbers participating. NOTE: If there is no racing scheduled on Sunday afternoons, the Mariners may hold their session on Sunday in lieu of Thursday mornings.
