Australian Sailing Registration
Club Membership fees include Registration with Australian Sailing (AS) – the peak National body of our Sport. A Registration Number is either issued or renewed with each registration, and this Number is also your Maroochy Sailing Club Membership Number.
If you are registered in one of the Sailing Categories (including On-Water Volunteer), you are provided with Personal Accident Insurance, and your registration allows participation in Sailing Events, Regattas, Training etc, conducted by AS affiliated Clubs and Classes, throughout Australia.
Registered members can check their current membership status by logging into their My Sailor page through the Australian Sailing Website.

A Temporary Club Membership (Sail Pass) is available to allow newcomers to experience Sailing and our Club for a limited time ( currently on 3 occasions). At the conclusion of their Temporary Membership, they have the option of registering as current Club Members and continuing involvement.
Membership and Participation
All Participants in Australian Sailing Courses, receive an Australian Sailing Number. This same number remains with them throughout their involvement in the Sport.
To Sail in an Australian Sailing Event, sailors must hold a current Australian Sailing Membership - only available through Club Membership. This Membership is recorded against their Australian Sailing Number. If you hold your AS Number only because of your Participation in Courses, you are not eligible to compete in Club or AS-credited Events. To do so you must hold a current Club Membership!
Many Clubs are now offering a Temporary Membership called Sail Pass that provides the opportunity to sail in a limited number of Club events. At Maroochy, our free Sail Pass provides for three sailing occasions. This Sail Pass is recognised only at Maroochy, and not at other venues!.
To Summarise:
Participants and Members both have AS Registration Numbers.
Membership is only available through joining an AS -affiliated Club such as Maroochy Sailing Club.
Members may, at times, be Participants ( undertaking a course), but a Participant is not a Member until they take out Club Membership, or Sail Pass Temporary Membership valid only at that Club.

FAMILY MEMBERSHIPS
Members of the same family are given at 10% discount on each individual membership. Contact Membership Officer, Peter, for a code to apply this discount when you register on-line.
ON-WATER VOLUNTEERS (not available on-line)
On-Water Volunteers assist with the conduct of sailing activities. Those who assist regularly in this role are granted complimentary membership. This is a non-sailing membership!

Membership Explanations
A Youth is a member under the age of 19 as at 30 June 2024
Racing Membership includes pre-paid Races Fees for weekly Club Races. It does not include use of Club Boats for Course Sailing/Racing - these can be hired or leased separately!
Social Members are non-sailing, but are welcome to use our Clubhouse facilities and join in on-shore activities.
